I Won't Have to Ask

I asked for so much. But, it was never too much. Asking to feel and be loved is never asking too much. One day, I won't have to ask.
I won’t have to ask a man to go look at my recent post and give it some love. He will eagerly and excitedly hype me up.
I won’t have to ask a man to read my work. He’ll have my blog bookmarked on his computer so he can check it frequently.
I won’t have to ask a man to call me when I’m overthinking or feeling overwhelmed, he just will. He will stay on the phone until I feel more at peace and will never make me feel guilty for it.
I won’t have to ask a man to hold me when I’m crying. He’ll be there for me without any complaints, even when it’s over something silly. I will never have to cry alone.
I won’t have to ask a man to “sacrifice” for me. He’ll already have his priorities right.
I won’t have a to ask a man why it feels like he doesn’t love me anymore. He will never let it get to that point. And if it does, he will do everything in his power to show me otherwise.
I won’t have to ask. I won’t have to ask for any of my basic needs to be met. I won’t have to ask to feel cared for and valued.
One day, I won’t have to ask a man for respect, communication, loyalty or compassion. He will give it willingly, always. Because he knows my worth. Because he’s been looking for me. Because he’s a man – not a boy.
And until I find that man, it’s not you. It’s me. I raised my standards.
I'm done asking.
